Our Shared and plans allow up to 8 simultaneous FTP connections from 1 IP. If you exceed this amount, you may run into a 421 Connection Error which are often caused by Idle FTP connections.
The cause of Idle FTP Connections is most likely due to an FTP client opening multiple connections, without closing the previous ones. Additionally, this error may occur when FTP settings are incorrectly configured. The maximum idle time for an ftp connection is 15 minutes in our Shared and Reseller hosting environments. This limitation is to keep unresponsive sessions from expending server network connectivity. If Idle FTP Connections are not removed, you may receive a 421 Error.
A 421 connection error is an error you receive If your FTP client is using more than 8 connections at the same time.
If the above error appears, you may need to check your FTP client configurations or remove Idle FTP Connections. This can be completed by limiting your FTP connections via your FTP client.
